Better Lasers and Better Balance


In version 2.1, we've improved the balance a bit by implementing some minor tweaks to the maximum thermal load for the Main Pulse Laser.  Upgrading the cooling system now not only sheds heat faster, but increases the maximum amount of heat the system can store.  This allows for more clicky fun especially on the third level.

The major edits for v2.1 were cosmetic.  The oxygen and fuel warning lamps now appear differently than the upgrade buttons.  They also pulsate when the supply levels dip below 40% (amber) and pulsate rapidly below 20% (red).  

The three lasers also had their appearance improved.  Each laser now consists of an opaque core beam surrounded by a translucent halo.  The halo for the continuous duty RLL and MLL pulsate at a rate proportional to their power output.  There is an illumination effect as well as a particle effect at the point of contact for each of the lasers providing a visual of the lasers burning through the surface and into the interior of the asteroid.

At this point, I think I'm done with this prototype.  There may be one more v2.2 update as I make some polishing edits to the How to Play and Credits panels.  As always, I welcome any feedback you have.  The point of this exercise is to improve my skill at creating good balance and engaging gameplay mechanics.
